ART PROJECT

The Story
Local illustrator, soccer and volleyball player D.John has always been passionate about celebrating community sport through art and sought to combine his love of athletics, gaming, and illustration.
D.John's Aerovolley Art Project celebrates grassroots sport through a series of free collaborations with Australian sporting clubs. As part of the project, D.John illustrates each club's top-level athletes as retro-inspired 8-bit video game trading cards. Each card is created in the same pixel-art style featured in the upcoming Aerovolley video game. The Future
D.John plans to expand the project by collaborating with more clubs across Australia, showcasing athletes from a diverse range of sports while growing a unique digital archive of Australian sporting talent. D.John will further develop the project by expanding beyond the original 8-bit aesthetic, exploring new visual styles while maintaining the project's focus on celebrating local sporting communities.
